Lead Sound Designer
What we hear in video games can change our perception of it. It helps immerse you into the game be it from an iconic sound like the studs being collected, or something so subtle you may not notice it like the sound of rain on clothing.
Lead Sound Designer - Raffaele Presciutti is one of the members of the audio team who bring the worlds of LEGO to life with sound!
Ever since he was young, he was interested in sound for media. Rafa says " I remember buying my first CD-ROM with only sound effects on it during a school trip in high school. "
He finds it amazing how the language of sound has changed over time and has always loved to explore this and make sure that the sound helps and compliments the visual and interactive experiences we create.
Raffaele previously worked in the film industry as a lead sound designer and has always had a passion for videogames so applying his skills to this interactive environment intrigued him. Joining TT Games in 2017, Raffaele has been an integral part of the sound team since then.

As part of his job, Rafa, designs and implements sounds into the game. He assists the sound team with their jobs also to make the work easier and more enjoyable. Another aspect of his role is to communicate with other departments to gather as much information as possible so the sound team can make informed decisions on how best to implement the sounds into the games.
Rafa especially loves the impact that sounds have on the game. He says "I love to design a sound, put it in game immediately, and test it in its real environment. Every time I am amazed by how something that sounds in a certain way in isolation, can completely change when put in context with other sounds, reverb, ambience, etc"
The connection between design and integration is something he really enjoys, and finds a sound is not good if it’s not implemented properly in the game.

While working at TT Games he loves bringing great characters and worlds to life though sounds, and is currently working on LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
"I love Batman, and I love the LEGO twist that the team managed to give him"
For other aspiring sound artists, Rafa has the following words of advice:
"If you want to be a sound designer, keep designing sounds! Grab a cinematic and redesign sounds for it, ask for feedback, rinse and repeat. Once your design skills are at a good level, start implementing sounds in a real game. There are plenty of test projects out there, in different engines, that you can replace the sound of. Try to understand what’s the best way to trigger a specific sound, can you do it yourself, using an animation, can you use a visual scripting language, should the sound react to the gameplay? "
