Environment Artist

Tt Fusion are looking for an experienced Artist to join the art team based in our Wilmslow studio. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating in-game environments across a variety of platforms. This will be advertised both internally and externally.

Level Construction Artist

We’re looking for a Level Construction Artist to join our highly skilled team.  The role available is based at our Knutsford development studio.

Main Responsibilities:
Level specific LEGO placements
• The design and construction of level specific LEGO placements as required / specified by Game and/or Level Director
• Setup and triggering of level-specific LEGO placements via in-house editors
• Optimisation of level specific LEGO Game placements and Loding where required across platforms

General
• Setup and maintenance of level cameras both 1 and 2 player cameras
• Layout of level geometry based on design documentation and direction provided by the assigned Level Director
• Work with Game Mechanics, Game Technology and Tools Programmers, providing feedback on new tools and systems

Senior Render Programmer

Traveller's Tales (Knutsford) is looking for a 'Senior Render Programmer' to join our Render-Tech team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a highly successful and creative team, working on cutting edge rendering techniques supporting the development of multiple AAA titles accross a wide range of platforms from mobile to next-gen. Having an in depth knowledge of cutting edge graphics techniques the ideal candidate will be able to take a lead role in the development of our render technology while working closely with our art teams. They would also be expected to provide support to junior team members generally taking a active role in leading the evolution of our technology. 

Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of C/C++ and HLSL, GLSL or Cg.
  • Excellent debugging skills.
  • Experience of either next gen or current gen console development.
  • Experience of mobile development a bonus.
  • Has been involved in the start-to-finish development of key render technologies for at least 2 AAA games. 
  • Experience with runtime performance analysis, profiling tools, and optimisation techniques including CPU, GPU and shaders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, plus the ability to communicate ideas with other disciplines.
  • Familiarity with CPU architectures and multithreaded programming.
  • Familiarity with current and cutting edge rendering techniques.
  • Excellent software design skills, knowledge of algorithms, data structures, software architectures and development methods.
  • Experience of mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent professional experience.

Pre-Visualisation Artists

We are looking for experienced Previs Artists to join Traveller's Tales successful Cinematic Animation Team. The selected candidates will have the opportunity to work on high profile projects, creating fun cinematics with a talented and creative team. We are looking for enthusiastic, self motivated team players who respond well to direction and feedback, can work to deadlines, and who can communicate ideas in a creative environment.

As well as experienced previs artists, this position would suit graduate film makers, or those with equivalent experience, and individuals with experience as camera operators and/or photographers with a strong interest in film making.

We welcome enquiries from within and outside of the games industry who are able to demonstrate their skills and experience in the following:

  • A solid appreciation of cinematic storytelling conventions, including camera technique and terminology, grammar, composition, staging and continuity.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Sound Designer

Traveller's Tales are looking for a talented Sound Designer to join its successful Audio team in Knutsford. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on high profile projects, creating great audio with a talented and creative team.

You should be incredibly passionate about game sound design, always looking for ways to improve the sound and technology used within our games.

Main Responsibilities:

  •  Working with Sound Effects
    • Creating SFX, from library or original recordings
    • Implementing SFX - using Traveller's Tales bespoke editors
  • Working with CutScenes:
    • Laying-out all audio assets (Music/FX/VO/Ambience) mixed in Surround-Sound
    • Liaising with Animation department
  • Working with Music (whether bespoke, composed or licence):
    • Editing music files (all aspects), to make game-ready
  • Working with Voice-overs (VO)
    • Working with and editing localised VO
  • For all aspects of Audio:
    • Detailed knowledge of the most common DAWs and plugins.
    • The ability to adapt to new technology and game engine tools.
    • Awareness of Memory/Disc/ISO management
    • Working with artists, animators and programmers in determining solutions to problems
    • Assisting in testing audio on release platforms
    • Working on multiple projects, simultaneously, according to priorities
  • Additional Tasks, as required.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • HND or above in a related Audio field or relevant Game Audio experience as to meet a similar technical level

Concept Artist

We currently have a permanent position available for a 2D/Concept Artist to work on our latest exciting projects at the Knutsford studio.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated artist to join the Concept Art team. The right candidate must be proficient in Photoshop and although not essential ideally a basic knowledge of Maya.  They must be able to produce a range of styles from broad stroke vistas to detailed close ups and to generate quick ideas to final high quality paintings.  Must be highly creative, and have good understanding of art principles such as colour theory, lighting and perspective.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for envisioning and presenting the visual style of the game under the direction of the Head of Art, Lead Artist or Game Director
  • To provide detailed concept for environment artists as required normally under the direction of the Lead Artist
  • To create initial ideas through basic sketches, developing then narrowing down to more specific final concepts
  • Attend reviews of work as required (with any info relevant to task – gameplay/block-out/ref/resources)
  • Other tasks as required
  • Understanding that changes and amendments are part of the pipeline
  • Work with Art Leads and other concept artists to ensure consistency across the project

VFX Artist

We currently have a permanent position available for a VFX Artist to work on our latest exciting projects at the Knutsford studio. 

We are looking for a skilled and motivated artist to join the VFX team. The right candidate should have a good foundation in Maya and Photoshop and ideally have Fluid simulation, particle systems and AfterEffects knowledge.  They will be responsible for creating the high quality VFX the studio is renowned for.  These include particles, incidental levels effects and bespoke events for both game environments and cutscenes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating visual effects for the game (levels and cutscenes) compliant with game design and vision
  • Creation of effects using packages provided (Maya and Photoshop)
  • Creation of particles using 2D textures (Photoshop) and in-house editors (particle/LED)
  • Using Maya Fluid systems to create animating textures when required
  • Creation of bespoke and generic scenery effects (smoke/fire etc)
  • Creation of bespoke character effects (shields/suits/hits/footsteps etc)
  • Placement of static effects in levels.
  • Creation of game specific VFX (explosions) placement generally by code.
  • Creation (sometimes placement) of cutscene specific VFX (explosions etc) placement generally by animation.
  • Working closely with environment artists on effects heavy levels to balance frame-rate
  • Liaise with Construction Artists with regards to placing and triggering gameplay-specific VFX
  • Ensuring work/level hits all memory and frame rate guides/restrictions
  • Understanding that changes and amendments are part of the pipeline

Microsoft Compliance Lead Tester

We are currently looking to recruit a Microsoft Compliance Lead Tester to join our Quality Assurance team, primarily based in our Wilmslow studio.

You will be responsible for ensuring our titles are compliant across all Microsoft platforms, thoroughly testing each project against the most up to date TCR/XR documentation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform ongoing compliance testing of any assigned software, identifying any compliance infringements or defects when they are found.
  • Reporting all compliance infringements and bugs found during test execution into JIRA, adding screenshots/videos when required.
  • Continual risk assessment on any assigned project, escalating any major concerns to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates to all project stakeholders (QA Manager, Functional Lead Tester, Producer, Publishing, etc.).
  • Creation and maintenance of compliance test plans and test cases.
  • Accurately track a project’s progress toward complete fulfilment of each platform’s compliance requirements.
  • Continually stay on top of any new compliance rulings or documentation revisions for each platform, updating any test plans & test cases accordingly.
  • Training and overseeing any junior compliance testers.
  • Work closely with Senior Testers and Localisation Testers to ensure sufficient coverage on some of the more time consuming compliance tests.
  • Performing confirmation/regression testing of any new code; updating bugs as required (closing as fixed, including additional information, etc.).

 

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of compliance testing and authorised names (preferably across multiple platforms).
  • Strong level of attention to detail.
  • Natural curiosity and an enthusiasm for finding bugs.
