Game Mechanics QA Tester - Traveller's Tales

Traveller’s Tales are looking to recruit a Game Mechanics QA Tester to test our main LEGO game mechanics.  This will be a fixed term contract until the end of September 2019 and will be based at our studio in Knutsford.

 Main responsibilities include:

  • Working with mechanics team to replicate issues for debugging.

  • Testing new and old mechanics

  • Assigning out issues to the programming team.

  • Testing new engine core mechanics.

  • UI work with XML

Programmers - Traveller's Tales

We’re looking for bright, talented & motivated people to join our Game Mechanics department and have one fixed term and three permanent opportunities. We have a variety of positions from front line development to lower level system work based at either our Knutsford or Wilmslow offices, both at mid-level and junior programmer levels. Main Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and understand the game design documents in order to define the required functionalities and the game system that must be developed.

VFX Artist - Traveller's Tales

The Art team at Traveller's Tales in Knutsford are looking to recruit a fixed term experienced VFX Artist.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating visual effects for the game (levels and cutscenes) compliant with game design and vision.
  • Creation of effects using packages provided (Maya and Photoshop).

Junior LEGO Model Technical Artist - Traveller's -Tales

Executive Director Production Finance

TT Games’ and Playdemic portfolio of studios are fast paced, dynamic businesses focused on meeting aggressive growth goals in the console and mobile video game space.  The Executive Director of Production Finance is a key member of the executive teams for each of these businesses and will provide critical insight into business decisions and strategies.  As a member of the senior leadership team, the Executive Director will help build consensus and drive adoption with the business leaders of strategies focused on expanding the business and improving financial results.  The role is also a key member of the global games finance team and is expected to leverage key learnings across Warner Bros.’ eleven development studios.  The position reports to the VP of Production Finance in Burbank who is responsible for all aspects of financial planning, analysis, operations and policy setting of the division’s production studios.  The primary responsibilities of this position include leading the financial aspects of; business decision support, strategic planning, along with leading the existing team of financial professionals in the preparation and socialising of production and publishing budgets with the UK and Burbank executive teams.   The position is also responsible for leading the studio finance teams in the monthly/quarterly/year end close process.   In addition, the position requires a high degree of skill to effectively communicate finance issues and information effectively will all levels of management across the organisation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                                                                     

  • Proactively identify and evaluate business issues across the studios portfolio, including new acquisitions and start-up studios; make strategy recommendations which influence the executive team to make solid business decisions. 
  • Help lead the strategic planning process with the Managing Director of TT Games and Playdemic with the objective of growing financial results in a constantly evolving digital marketplace.
  • Lead the existing finance teams in the preparation, analysis, reporting and socialisation of results/variances with key stakeholders across all groups (e.g., TT Games studios, Playdemic and new acquisitions and start-up studios WBIE, London and Burbank Corporate Finance, Accounting and Tax groups):

Work Experience

Games UI Artist - Playdemic

Playdemic are on the lookout for a mid-level UI Artist but would also consider candidates interested in a Senior UI Artist position.

As one of the primary UI/UX Artists on the team, you will be expected to work alongside Designers, other Artists, Programmers and Producer on a day-to-day basis, providing high quality assets that achieve the production and quality goals set for the project. You will also work closely with the Creative Director in setting the style and quality standard for all front-end elements of the game.

You will need to take a thoughtful approach to solving complex User Interface problems, often prototyping multiple ideas that you will evolve and iterate in search of the optimal solution.

You will be expected to estimate timescales for your tasks in advance and deliver milestones as part of the development process. Should you be acting in a senior position on the art team, you will work alongside the Producer to plan out work schedules for the other artists. You should be able to show creative leadership to the art team, inspiring them to work to their potential and take pride in what they produce.

Senior UI Artist - TT Fusion

  • Responsible for creating game UI compliant with the game design, both technically and aesthetically

Senior Game Technology Programmer - Traveller's Tales

We are looking for a Senior Programmer to join our Game Technology team in Wilmslow. The Game Technology team is part of the Engine Room Department, and is responsible for creating and maintaining the nuts and bolts that glue our award winning games together.

You will be working with every platform conceivable, from hand-held devices, through desktop computers to consoles both current and next generation. Because of this, you will be using a wide variety of development environments and programming languages and tackling technical challenges of every sort. No day will be the same, and you won't be bored!

During your day you will be working with all the internal development departments in Traveller's Tales: the game programmers, the low level renderer programmers, the artists and designers who produce the amazing content that makes our games alive, the production team who manage the process and the publishers who get our games out to the public. Finally, but not least, you will liaise with the platform holders to resolve technical challenges and overcome any submission problems that come with the fast pace of the console and hand held market.

You will be expected to get involved with all aspects of the Traveller's Tales code base to ensure each programming department works effectively together. For that reason, you will need to have experience with working with large code bases and be able to understand other people's code quickly. Particular areas of expertise would be helpful in rendering, tools, networking/online, resource management, console platform compliance (TRC) and level streaming.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable games industry experience including several shipped titles.
  • Ability to think creatively to solve complex coding problems.
  • A good degree in Computer Science, Math or Physics or related subject (2.i or above) or equivalent experience.
