Junior LEGO Model Technical Artist

We are looking for a Junior LEGO Model Technical Artist with a keen interest in Tt Games LEGO Console Games.  This is a rare opportunity to become part of the team responsible for bespoke LEGO Models as seen throughout our multi award winning published titles.

You will join the LEGO Models team and work together with Level Designers and LEGO Model Designers and assist in the setup of LEGO models such as creatures and vehicles for in-game use, as well as props of all sizes as used by the Cinematic and wider LEGO Construction teams.

As a Junior LEGO Model Technical Artist, you will be responsible for:
•    In-game setup of LEGO models as required/specified by Lead LEGO Model Artist/Lead Level Designer/Assistant Game Director/Game Director
•    Setup/Rigging of LEGO models and vehicles to fit game engine physics requirements as required/specified by Lead LEGO Model Artist/Lead Level Designer/Assistant Game Director/Game Director
•    The design and creation of decals/printed elements adhering to specific LEGO Co. design style/direction
•    Setup of high detail models and vehicles for use in cut-scenes
•    Optimisation of models and vehicles to work across multiple platforms

Additional responsibilities include:
•    Input on the creation of new and bespoke LEGO elements
•    Modelling LEGO elements for inclusion in the TT LEGO Parts Library
•    Creation of approval materials for submission to LEGO Company and any additional stake holders
•    Help maintain Wiki documentation within LEGO Models discipline
•    Undertake relevant on-the-job training and keep up-to-date with industry advancements and technologies
•    Provide feedback on in-house tools and scripts

Senior Render Programmer

Traveller's Tales are looking for a 'Senior Render Programmer' to join our Render-Tech team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a highly successful and creative team, working on cutting edge rendering techniques supporting the development of multiple AAA titles across a wide range of platforms from mobile to next-gen. Having an in depth knowledge of cutting edge graphics techniques the ideal candidate will be able to take a lead role in the development of our render technology while working closely with our art teams. They would also be expected to provide support to junior team members generally taking an active role in leading the evolution of our technology.

Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of C/C++ and HLSL, GLSL or Cg.
  • Excellent debugging skills.
  • Experience of either console, DirectX 11 or OpenGL development.
  • Experience of mobile development a bonus.
  • Has been involved in the start-to-finish development of key render technologies for at least 1 AAA game.
  • Experience with performance analysis, profiling tools, and optimisation techniques including CPU, GPU and shaders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, plus the ability to communicate ideas with other disciplines.
  • Familiarity with CPU architectures and multithreaded programming.
  • Familiarity with current and cutting edge rendering techniques.

QA Testers

TT Fusion, a division of Traveller’s Tales, are looking for QA Testers to join our QA team based at our Wilmslow studio. These are Fixed Term Contract roles starting in early 2015, running until the end of May.

The ideal candidates should have:

Environment Artists

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within Traveller's Tales in Knutsford.  We are seeking to recruit 3 experienced Environment Artists to join the Art team on a full time, permanent basis, ideally to commence in February/March 2015.

The main responsibilities consist of:

  • Responsible for creating in-game environments compliant with the game design, both technically and aesthetically
  • Creating 3D models using packages provided (Maya, Z-Brush and Photoshop)
  • Creating and applying 2D textures – create and apply texture maps to the specification set by the Lead Artist
  • Lighting environments – ability to apply good lighting principles to all artistic output
  • Creating materials/shaders – Diff/Spec/Norm maps etc. and being responsible for the final look
  • Setup of dynamic lighting, post effects and basic scene animation via in-house editors
  • Ensuring work/level hits all memory and frame rate guides/restrictions – optimisations/LODs etc
  • Understanding that changes and amendments are part of the pipeline
  • Attend regular reviews of their work (and present all concept and ref used)
  • Constructively feedback any concerns of design impact on level/work
  • Other tasks as required

Game Technology Programmer

We are looking for a programmer to join our Game Technology team. The Game Technology team is part of the Engine Room Department, and is responsible for creating and maintaining the nuts and bolts that glue our award winning games together.

You will be working with every platform conceivable, from hand-held devices, through desktop computers to consoles both current and next generation. Because of this, you will be using a wide variety of development environments and programming languages and tackling technical challenges of every sort. No day will be the same, and you won't be bored!

During your day you will be working with all the internal development departments in Traveller's Tales: the game programmers, the low level renderer programmers, the artists and designers who produce the amazing content that makes our games come alive, the production team who manage the process and the publishers who get our games out to the public. Finally, but not least, you will liase with the platform holders to resolve technical challenges and overcome any submission problems that come with the fast pace of the console and hand held market.

You will be expected to get involved with all aspects of the Traveller's Tales code base to ensure each programming department works effectively together. For that reason, you will need to have experience with working with large code bases and be able to understand other people's code quickly. Particular areas of expertise would be helpful in rendering, tools, audio, networking and online, and resource management.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable games industry experience including several shipped titles
  • A good degree in Computer Science, Math or Physics or related subject (2.i or above) or equivalent experience
  • Fluent in C++ and object oriented programming
  • A structured approach to programming with the desire to write clean, well commented, documented and maintainable code.
  • A positive can do attitude coupled with the ability to get things done.

A strong candidate will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience programming consoles at a low-level on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U or PC.

Junior Level Construction Artist

Junior Character Artist

Main responsibilities

  • The design and creation of LEGO characters as specified by the Lead Character Artist.
  • The design and creation of LEGO creatures where the main elements are unique moulded elements rather than a LEGO model constructed from standard elements.
  • The design and creation of textures and printed decals used on characters and creatures.
  • Identify and assist in fixing relevant issues, ensuring sufficient information is communicated to both the Lead and the Wider Team.
  • Optimisation of all assets across multiple platforms.

General responsibilities

VFX Artist

We are seeking to recruit a VFX Artist to be based within our Art team in Knutsford on a full time permanent basis.  The main responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for creating visual effects for the game (levels and cutscenes) compliant with game design and vision.

  • Creation of particles using 2D textures (Photoshop) and in-house editors (particle/LED).

Pre-Visualisation Artist

We are seeking to recruit a Pre-Visualisation Artist on a 6 month fixed term contract to join our successful Cinematic Animation team in Wilmslow.  The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on high profile projects, creating fun cinematics with a talented and creative team.  We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated team players who respond well to direction and feedback, can work to deadlines, and who can communicate ideas in a creative environment.

As well as experienced previs artists, this position would suit graduate film makers, or those with equivalent experience, and individuals with experience as camera operators and/or photographers with a strong interest in film making.

We welcome enquiries from within and outside of the games industry who are able to demonstrate their skills and experience in the following:

  • A solid appreciation of cinematic storytelling conventions, including camera technique and terminology, grammar, composition, staging and continuity.

Senior QA Manager

Tools Programmer

We are seeking a Tools Programmer to join the team developing technology at the core of all TT Games’ productions, from BAFTA award winning AAA games on every major console and handheld device (over 100 million units sold to date), to our award-winning TV shows, broadcast on major networks around the world.

The successful candidate will play a significant part in shaping the way art, animation and designs are produced across new projects, as well as keeping our technology up to date with the state of the art in the industry.

We are looking for candidates with:

·         A good degree in Computer Science, Maths or Physics or related subject (2.i or above), or equivalent industry experience.

·         Fluent in C/C++ and object oriented programming.

·         Experience of Direct X, OpenGL or similar graphics APIs.

·         Experience of writing user interfaces using one or more common UI libraries (Win32 GDI/wxWindows/Qt/...).

·         Ability to interact with non-technical disciplines (such as artists and designers), understand their needs, deliver solutions they find intuitive and helpful.

·         A real desire to make users' day-to-day work easier, simpler, and more productive.

 

A strong candidate will also have one or more of the following:

·         Experience of writing plugins for common 3D and 2D packages (Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop preferably).

·         A confident grasp of the mathematics involved in CG rendering and animation.

·         The ability to analyse and optimise algorithms for efficiency.

·         Experience developing products for one or more non-PC gaming devices.
